It was a disappointing end of the season for Arsenal on Sunday as they missed out on the Premier League title.

Mikel Arteta’s side dragged the race right down to the wire but ultimately fell short by just two points.

A 2-1 victory over Everton thanks to a late Kai Havertz winner proved in vain as Manchester City took care of business against West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

It denied Arsenal their first Premier League title in 20 years but the Gunners are edging ever closer to ending their wait for that elusive crown.

William Saliba has enjoyed yet another impressive year at the heart of Arsenal’s backline, alongside Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Frenchman formed part of a defence which conceded the fewest goals in the league this term – just 29 in 38 games. Saliba also made history on the final day of the season against Everton.

Saliba makes Premier League history for Arsenal

Following his latest 90 minutes in an Arsenal shirt, Saliba reached an impressive milestone on Sunday.

According to journalist Sam Dean, the centre-back became the first-ever outfield Arsenal player to play every single minute in a Premier League season.

Lee Dixon achieved the same feat back in 1989/90, before the the Premier League was officially formed.

Saliba’s stats for Arsenal

Having played every single minute of the season, Saliba netted two goals and provided one assist in the league this season.

His impressive form also helped David Raya pick up the Golden Glove award, with Arsenal keeping 18 clean sheets.

It was yet another impressive campaign for the 23-year-old and he displayed exactly what the Gunners were missing towards the end of last season.

Despite falling short in the title race, the future certainly looks bright at the Emirates and in Saliba, they have a player who’s capable of becoming the world’s best at centre-back.
