The January transfer window isn’t far away now, and Newcastle United are one team expected to be busy in the winter.
Newcastle had a very quiet summer transfer window, failing to make any major signings for big fees.

Newcastle failed to sign Marc Guehi in the summer, while the Magpies also wanted to sign a new winger in the last transfer window.
Indeed, Newcastle moved for Anthony Elanga on deadline day, but, once again, their attempts were futile.
Newcastle have since been linked with a few more big-name options, including Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman.
However, according to Christian Falk, speaking on the FC Bayern Insider Podcast, Newcastle haven’t actually asked about signing Coman and a move is unlikely.
Kingsley Coman to Newcastle is unlikely
Falk shared what he knows about the rumours linking Coman to Newcastle.
The journalist says these rumours are wide of the mark.
“Then another rumour from the island. Newcastle have inquired about Kingsley Coman. Is it true or not true?” Falk was asked.
“That is not true. I don’t think Newcastle would be big enough for Kingsley Coman’s demands. So if he moves, he’ll either want a bigger club in Europe or if he leaves, he’ll go to Saudi Arabia because he’ll get real cash there and maybe the contract of his life,” Falk said.

Newcastle seemingly aren’t going to be signing Coman this January, and that is a real shame.
Coman may not be Bayern Munich’s most important player these days, but he’s still producing the goods for the German giants,

Coman is averaging a goal contribution every 100 minutes for Bayern this season, and that sort of output is why he was once described as ‘one of the best players in Europe’ by Julian Nagelsmann, via Kicker.
Coman may not be an attainable target, but Newcastle do still need some attacking reinforcements, and it will be interesting to see if they decide to make any moves on this front in the coming weeks.
Newcastle could be in store for a very special season if they can kick on from this point, and the right January additions could have the Magpies pushing for a top four place once again this term.
