Walid Regragui Reveals Morocco’s Squad for 2023 AFCON

Head Coach Walid Regragui revealed the 27-player squad selected for the tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Atlas Lions’ roster comprises goalkeepers Yassine Bounou, Munir Mohamedi, El Kajoui, and El Mehdi Benabid.
In the defensive lineup, the coach enlisted Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui, Yahya Attiat Allah, Nayef Aguerd, Romain Saiss, Yunis Abdelhamid, Chadi Riad, Abdelkabir Abqar, and Mohamed Chibi.
Midfielders Amir Richardson, Sofyan Amrabat, Oussama El Azzouzi, Selim Amallah, Ismael Saibari, Azzedine Ounahi, Bilal El Khannouss, and Amine Harit were also included.
The forward section features Hakim Ziyech, Amine Adli, Ayoub El Kaabi, Youssef En-Nesyri, Tarik Tissoudali, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, and Sofiane Boufal.
The continental tournament is scheduled to occur between January 13 and February 11 in Cote d’Ivoire.
Regragui revealed the squad list during a press conference, where he highlighted that the Atlas Lions will engage in a friendly match against Gambia on January 7 as part of their preparation for the 2023 AFCON.
The coach emphasized the importance of these preparations to evaluate the team’s readiness for the upcoming tournament.
In the draw, Morocco was placed in Group F alongside Tanzania, Congo, and Zambia. The opening match for Morocco is set against Tanzania on January 17 at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro.
