Villarreal narrowly missed out on qualifying for Europe in the 2023-24 season, but the signs are there for Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side to be back at the top-end of the table in 2024-25. They will hope a fantastic summer transfer window will continue the momentum, and targets are being lined up.

As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Villarreal are one of several clubs to have enquired about signing Heidenheim winger Jan-Niklas Beste. The 25-year-old is off the back of a phenomenal season, having registered eight goals and 13 assists in the Bundesliga.

A deal would be largely inexpensive for Villarreal, with expectations that an agreement with Heidenheim could be closed for approximately €7m. However, Beste would prefer to stay in Germany, which would be disappointing news for the Yellow Submarine.

Beste would be a top signing for Villarreal, although by the sounds of it, it won’t be straightforward to get a deal done. It remains to be seen whether their interest grows in the coming weeks.
