Manchester United will no doubt be eager for their season to end ahead of regrouping in the summer.

On Monday night, the Red Devils fell to a shock 4-0 defeat away at Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Manchester United were 2-0 down by half-time thanks to goals from Michael Olise and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Palace then struck twice more in the second half, though Tyrick Mitchell and Olise, to leave the Red Devils contingent shell-shocked.

Very few Manchester United players could hold their heads up high after such a dismal performance.

For instance, Goal.com didn’t give any of them higher than a 4 out of 10 in their post-match ratings piece.

Indeed, one Red Devils player received a 2 out of 10 rating – Casemiro.

‘It’s difficult to see how he can have a United career after this,’ they wrote.

‘He was frequently targeted and gave Palace what they were looking for, chances galore.’

Casemiro has sadly struggled this season, suffering a huge drop-off in form from an impressive 2022/23 campaign.

Ian Wright, speaking on the latest episode of the Wrighty’s House podcast, admitted he saw Casemiro do something he has never seen before.

What has Ian Wright said about Manchester United midfielder Casemiro?

“I was very surprised about Casemiro,” Wright began.

“And everybody, you’ve seen a lot of talk, messages, comments about how great he’s been and that’s not in question…

“I’ve never seen somebody that experienced and knows so much to go to ground so easily at every opportunity, makes it easy for someone like (Michael) Olise.”

Casemiro’s Manchester United future appears to be in the balance

It’s a huge shame that Casemiro has struggled this season. Last term, he was absolutely superb for Manchester United, but it hasn’t been the case in 2023/24.

Let’s see what happens in the summer. With so much set to change – perhaps even the manager – and then pre-season, it’s not necessarily guaranteed that Casemiro will leave.

It would be great to see the £300,000-a-week midfielder recover his form in pre-season and get another chance, but at the same time, the club has to think about the future.
