Despite limited starts in the Bundesliga, interest from Premier League clubs arose, including Manchester United.

However, sources suggest United is prioritizing outgoings this January and will pursue a new striker only if funds permit.

As United hesitates, Sky Germany discloses ongoing negotiations between Spurs and Leipzig for a surprising loan deal bringing Werner back to the Premier League, just 18 months after leaving Chelsea.

The clubs are actively discussing terms, including a loan fee and salary percentage, aiming to finalize the agreement soon.

Despite falling short of expectations with a £47.5m price tag at Chelsea, Timo Werner remained a beloved figure among fans during his two-year tenure at Stamford Bridge.

With just 23 goals in 89 games, he returned to Leipzig for around £25m. Werner initially gained recognition as a prolific goalscorer with Leipzig, scoring 78 times in four Bundesliga seasons from 2016 to 2020.

Originally poised to join Liverpool, Chelsea secured his signature. After struggling to justify the expense, Werner made a permanent return to Leipzig last season, tallying nine goals in 27 games.

However, he has faced reduced playing time this year due to new arrivals, setting the stage for his potential return to England for a second chance.
