The iconic striker, who scored 271 goals in a ten-year span from 1999 to 2009, disclosed on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast that the realization hit him during a simple moment at home with his daughter.

Struggling with Achilles pain every morning for ten years, Henry narrated an incident where he couldn’t chase his daughter during a game, leading him to acknowledge he couldn’t endure the pain any longer.

Despite reaching almost 800 senior club games, 360 club goals, and numerous accolades, including a World Cup and European Championship with France, Henry emphasized the importance of leaving the game on his own terms.

The Frenchman, who became Arsenal’s all-time top scorer and achieved success at Barcelona, ultimately retired satisfied, reflecting on a remarkable career that spanned continents and left an indelible mark in football history.
