Arsenal have been linked with a number of strikers in recent years.

Indeed, the Gunners are consistently linked with moves for top centre-forwards from Dusan Vlahovic to Ivan Toney.

Cast your mind back to the summer of 2021 and you’ll remember that Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.

Now, speaking to JD Football, Abraham has been discussing his options when he left Chelsea and he’s suggested that there was a route to Arsenal open for him.

Tammy Abraham suggests he could’ve joined Arsenal

Abraham says that he had the option to sign for a club in the Premier League, a club that his family supports.

“I had options in the Premier League, one from a team that my family support and they were gutted that I didn’t go,” Abraham said.

Now, the £34m man didn’t mention Arsenal by name, but through a bit of deduction, we can assume that Abraham is talking about Arsenal here.

Indeed, the Gunners were strongly linked at that time, while Abraham said this in 2017 saying he and his family supported Arsenal:

“To be honest I was an Arsenal fan. It didn’t make any difference at Chelsea.”

“When you’re young and you choose who to support, if it’s a family thing, it’s a family thing. Luckily for me it was a family thing, so it wasn’t really a problem at Chelsea.”

Tammy Abraham could’ve been great for Arsenal

Tammy Abraham could’ve been a fantastic signing for Arsenal.

The England striker has been out with injury for quite a long time now, but don’t forget that before his injuries he was in great form for Roma.

He bagged 17 Serie A goals in his debut season for the Italian club, while he’s also managed similar sorts of numbers in the Premier League for Chelsea, hitting 15 goals back in the 2019/20 season.

Abraham could’ve been just what the doctor ordered at Arsenal, but, unfortunately, he moved to Roma and Arsenal are still looking for a new number nine to this day.
