For the third time in two years, Chelsea are looking for a new manager.

Mauricio Pochettino has left Stamford Bridge, and, once again, the search for a new gaffer in west London is on.

Chelsea have been in this situation so many times before, and with Pochettino’s sacking looking to be rather calculated, one would imagine that the Blues have a plan in place.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Back Pages Podcast, David Ornstein has been discussing Chelsea’s search for a new manager, and he says that the word coming out of Stamford Bridge is that they will look to hire a new manager in the coming days rather than the coming weeks.

Chelsea to have a new manager in days

Ornstein spoke about Chelsea’s managerial search and what he’s hearing on that front.

“This leaves us in a fairly extraordinary situation. I think they will be looking to make an appointment in days rather than weeks is the word coming out of Stamford Bridge tonight, so it’s a case of watch this space,” Ornstein said.

Chelsea to act quickly

Chelsea aren’t going to waste any time in appointing a new manager, and that may be a mistake.

The Blues have got rid of Pochettino at the perfect time in a lot of ways. The season is over and pre-season is a long way away yet.

That should give Todd Boehly and co plenty of time to come up with a plan and a strategy and really think this through.

However, as has become tradition at Chelsea, it instead sounds as though they will dive in headfirst and rush a decision and potentially end up making the wrong call.

Of course, Chelsea could get it right this time, but considering their recent track record on big decisions, it’s hard to imagine they’ll be able to come up with a solid plan in just a matter of days.
