Despite the unsatisfactory 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remains assured that his team is moving in the correct direction.
United’s hopes of advancing to the round of 16 took a hit as they relinquished a two-goal advantage, settling for a draw against the Turkish giants.
With this outcome, United finds themselves at the bottom of Group A with four points. To have a shot at progressing, they must secure a victory against Bayern Munich in their upcoming final game.
“I take responsibility for this. It’s a project, and we are progressing, making improvements, so that’s very encouraging,” Ten Hag stated, as quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano after Wednesday’s game.
“We are heading in the right direction, and I know the steps we are taking will lead to long-term success. I firmly believe in the quality of this team. Every player in the squad is talented and deserves the best to represent Manchester United because they are exceptional players, and that applies to the entire squad.”
United faces a challenging domestic fixture this weekend as they travel to St. James’ Park to take on Newcastle United.
The Red Devils aim to avoid consecutive defeats against Eddie Howe’s side.
