Pedro Rocha was beaming with pride on Sunday after watching Spain defeat England in the final of Euro 2024, but less than 48 hours later, he is set to be removed as president of the Spanish Football Federation.

As reported by MD, Rocha has been found guilty of illegitimately firing Andreu Camps, former secretary general of the Federation. The judgement will be handed down by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the coming days, and Rocha is to be disqualified from footballing activities for two years.

This news has rocked Spanish football, just two days the joyous scenes in Berlin. It means that Rocha will have to be removed as president, and according to Article 17 of the Royal Decree, which regulates electoral processes in Spanish sports federations, he would likely be replaced by Maria Angeles Garcia Chaves, the current vice-president of the Federation.

However, there is also a possibility that presidential elections could end up being called.
