Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped two positions in the most recent FIFA Coca-Cola World Ranking, moving from 40th to 42nd.
The latest rankings, disclosed on FIFA’s website on Thursday, November 30, 2023, possibly reflect the Super Eagles’ decline, which is unsurprising given their underwhelming performance in the two matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Group C.
On the first matchday against Lesotho, the Eagles drew 1-1 in Uyo. In the subsequent match against Zimbabwe, Jose Peseiro’s team once again had to mount a comeback to earn another 1-1 draw.
Following these initial two games, the three-time African champions currently occupy the third position in Group C, trailing behind leaders Rwanda and second-placed South Africa.
