Sky Sports journalist shares latest update on ‘rising star’ striker who Leeds want to sign

Leeds United Manager Daniel Farke looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United FC and Portsmouth FC at Elland Road on August...

Leeds United opened their Championship account with a 3-3 draw against Portsmouth at Elland Road.

It was a disappointing result and one that will certainly nudge the board to dip into the summer transfer market for further reinforcements in attack.

Following Crysencio Summerville’s departure to West Ham, Leeds have failed to replace him thus far despite efforts to sign Jonathan Rowe.

Now, a fresh update on an attacking target has just emerged.

Leeds target Daniel Jebbison will be loaned

Leeds were linked with striker Daniel Jebbison earlier in the window before he left Sheffield United for Bournemouth.

Though, despite only just arriving on the south coast, he’s still expected to depart on loan this summer as Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie shares the latest.

Sunderland appear to be the most interested party at this stage, however, Downie stresses that they’re yet to make an approach for the 21-year-old.

That could leave the door open for Leeds, who have the ‘rising star’ (One Football) on their transfer shortlist.

Leeds should consider Tom Cannon

Instead of Jebbison, Leeds should consider Leicester City striker Tom Cannon, who is thought to be available for a loan move this summer.

The former Everton frontman enjoyed a prolific spell at Preston North End during the 2022/23 Championship campaign but failed to break into Enzo Maresca’s side despite joining in a substantial £7.5m deal.

Steve Cooper clearly doesn’t see Cannon as part of his plans either so Leeds should look to bring him as he’d be the ideal profile for Farke. The Irishman is quite similar to Teemu Puku, who flourished under the German manager.
