Tottenham Hotspur currently have over a dozen players out on loan at other clubs this season.

One of those Spurs players is currently plying his trade with a Championship club, and he has put them on the brink of a return to the Premier League.

On Thursday night, he played a huge part in helping his current club triumph in their playoff semi-final and book a spot at Wembley.

The player in question is Joe Rodon, who left Tottenham in the summer to link up with Leeds United for the season.

Rodon has been superb for the Whites, who are now just one game away from returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Leeds went into their Championship playoff semi-final second-leg meeting with Norwich with the score-line level at 0-0 from the first leg.

However, it didn’t take long for Leeds to go ahead at Elland Road and, by the end of the first half, the celebrations were already under way.

Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter netted in the opening 45 minutes, and Crysencio Summerville wrapped up the scoring in the second half.

Meanwhile, Rodon helped Leeds keep a second successive clean sheet with yet another impressive display.

As per Sofascore, the Tottenham loanee won five aerial duels and three ground duels.

Rodon also took 98 touches of the ball, made 77 accurate passes, delivered six accurate long balls, and chipped in with two clearances, one interception and one tackle.

All in all, it was a great night for the Spurs defender, and BBC Sport pundit Aidy White loved what he saw from the player.

“Those big players really stepped up. All around a tremendous effort from the team,” he said on BBC Radio Leeds.

“Big shout-out to Joe Rodon – he set the tempo of the game.”

It’s great to see the “phenomenal” Rodon finally enjoying his football and winning plaudits after a difficult time at N17.

Let’s see what happens in the summer. Tottenham may yet decide to keep hold of Rodon, even though Alasdair Gold has previously claimed that it’s unlikely.
