West Ham could reportedly emerge as a possible destination for Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney this summer.

Julen Lopetegui will go about building a squad in his image this summer after taking over from David Moyes.

The Spaniard is expected to target a new striker and Ivan Toney has already been linked with a move to the London Stadium.

Indeed, the Hammers are one of a host of clubs keeping an eye on Toney’s situation, with Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal also said to be keen.

The Englishman is expected to leave Brentford this summer after repeatedly expressing his desire for a fresh challenge.

And according to SportsLens, West Ham could become an option for Toney, but on one condition.

What sources are saying about Toney and West Ham

The outlet claims that West Ham are also eyeing moves for Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri and Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

Yet, sources believe Toney could emerge as a ‘good option’ for the Hammers should Brentford lower their demands.

With Tottenham and Chelsea also keen on Toney, it’s thought that the Blues are the only club that could match Brentford’s demands of a fee between £50-60 million.

Spurs are not willing to pay anything more than £45 million for the Bees star while the Hammers value Toney at just below that figure.

Toney would be a huge upgrade on Michail Antonio

Michail Antonio has been a brilliant option for West Ham over the years and remains the club’s all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League with 67 to his name.

The Jamaican striker has struggled to find the back of the net over the past couple of seasons though and it’s an obvious area where West Ham could improve.

Toney would certainly provide a more lethal option in the final third having netted 36 goals in 85 Premier League appearances under Thomas Frank.

The 28-year-old has scored just four times in 17 appearances since returning from his ban in January though, which may be a slight cause for concern for potential suitors.
