Chelsea picked up a comfortable 2-0 win over Tottenham on Thursday before thrashing West Ham 5-0 over the weekend.

With just three games left to play, Pochettino’s side sit two points behind sixth-place Newcastle United.

Pochettino’s future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear, with the west London club known to be admirers of Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim.

With a huge decision to be made over the Argentine at the end of the season, the Athletic has shared what sources have said about his training methods at Chelsea.

The outlet claims that sources close to Chelsea, who spoke anonymously, have described Pochettino’s training methods as ‘underwhelming’.

It’s also noted that Chelsea’s co-owners had hoped the Argentine would challenge for a Champions League spot in his debut campaign. But the Blues have never really been in contention for a top-four finish. 

Should Chelsea keep Pochettino?

With a decision yet to be made on Pochettino’s future, there is plenty of uncertainty surrounding his future.

It’s fair to say it has been an underwhelming season for Chelsea as they have struggled to find any kind of consistency.

But there have been more positive signs in recent months, particularly as the Blues have been the fourth-best side in the league since match day 20, according to data from the Athletic.

The underlying numbers certainly suggest there is plenty more to come from Pochettino’s Chelsea. But the latest update on his ‘underwhelming’ training methods will be a concern.

That’s usually a worrying sign for a manager who’s under pressure and it will be intriguing to see if Chelsea head in a different direction this summer.

Chelsea would probably benefit from a bit of stability and sacking Pochettino would arguably put them back to square one. The Argentine has shown in recent weeks that he should be handed more time with this young squad.
