Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to sell their £35 million star this summer should a suitable offer arrive, with Spurs willing to let a number of players leave over the coming months.

Tottenham have enjoyed a promising first year under Ange Postecoglou, but their recent form shows that they remain a work in progress heading into his first full pre-season and summer transfer window in North London.

Spurs have a core group that they can build around, with the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero likely to help make up the spine of the side for some time to come.

For a while, you would have assumed that Yves Bissouma would also be a key player for Tottenham for several years based on the way he started life under Postecoglou.

Tottenham would sell Yves Bissouma this summer for the right price

Bissouma had a poor first year at Spurs, missing much of the campaign due to injury. And he seemed to be one of the players with a point to prove after Postecoglou’s arrival.

The £35 million man formed an outstanding partnership with Pape Matar Sarr as Tottenham set the pace in the Premier League in the opening weeks of the season.

However, Bissouma’s form has dropped off dramatically as the campaign has gone on. And The Times is reporting that Tottenham would be ready to sell the 27-year-old if a suitable offer comes in.

Marquee midfielder has surely flown up Spurs’ priority list

Much may depend on what sort of fee Spurs want for Bissouma, but you would imagine that there will be some takers for the Mali international over the summer.

Ultimately, Bissouma was so impressive during his time with Brighton, and he has shown glimpses of his quality with Spurs, but has been unable to take that next step in the capital.

Tottenham do need to improve in the middle of the park with their defence being left exposed much too often over the season, particularly in recent weeks.

Plenty of Spurs fans would be forgiven for now wanting the marquee midfield addition over the summer that they had hoped that Bissouma would prove to be.
