Tottenham could now make an unexpected bid to sign a player who has been compared to Conor Gallagher.

Spurs have been strongly linked with a move for the Chelsea No.23 ever since Ange Postecoglou arrived in N17 – Fabrizio Romano even recently claimed that the England international is the one player he definitely knows Tottenham want to buy.

Now – however – Spurs have been tipped to bid for a player similar to Conor Gallagher…

Tottenham could make Davide Frattesi offer

A story from Inter Live in Italy now claims that Tottenham could make a bid to sign Inter Milan No.16 Davide Frattesi.

The Italian news outlet believe Spurs are considering an “unexpected” €30m (£26m) move to sign the Italy international as Postecoglou aims to add more goal threat to his midfield.

Frattesi scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 42 appearances across the 2023/24 campaign.

Inter Live add that Tottenham could also include Emerson Royal in the bid, with Inter Milan showing an interest in the Brazil international, who the Telegraph believe has been put up for sale by Postecoglou.

AC Milan and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the South American.

Inter Live also claim that Spurs face competition from Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Frattesi.

Conor Gallagher alternative

While Tottenham’s admiration for Gallagher has been well documented, it will surely be a tough deal to pursue given the bitter rivalry with Chelsea.

There is also rival interest from Aston Villa – according to the Telegraph – and the Villans are able to offer UEFA Champions League football.

Therefore, it could well be the case that Spurs are already hunting for alternatives to Gallagher, with Frattesi described as someone who “plays a lot like” the Londoner, according to a scout report from Total Football Analysis.

If Inter Milan accept the seemingly imminent £26m bid from Tottenham for Frattesi, it would also represent a more sensible move from a financial aspect.

Chelsea are said to want £50m for Gallagher, so Spurs could sign a similar option for roughly half the price.
