Manchester United are set for a busy summer in the transfer window and potentially in the managerial market too.

The Red Devils have once again flattered to deceive this season, and face a battle just to qualify for the Europa League.

Admittedly, Man United could yet salvage something from this campaign if they upset the odds to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

However, there’s no doubt that there’s a lot of work to do at Old Trafford if the club wants to return to challenging for the Premier League and Champions League.

Manchester United’s defence could certainly do with strengthening. Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans will be out of contract soon, while Victor Lindelof’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain.

Now, a report has emerged claiming Red Devils scouts have been singing the praises of two players on the club’s radar, including one likened to Ruben Dias.

According to GiveMeSport, Man United scouts have ‘constantly recommended’ Benfica duo Antonio Silva and Joao Neves as two options that could come into United’s defence and midfield.

Silva and Neves have been in great form for the Portuguese giants, despite a fairly underwhelming season as a whole for the club.

However, Silva is said to have a £87million release clause and Neves reportedly boasts a £103million clause, which may be a problem for the Red Devils.

Antonio Silva and Joao Neves would be great signings for Manchester United

Obviously the Red Devils will need to look at their transfer budget for the summer and what positions need strengthening the most. Some outgoings could also be on the cards to balance the books.

However, there’s no doubt Silva and/or Neves would be great signings for Manchester United. At just 20 and 19 years of age respectively, they’re already playing at a world-class level and have high ceilings.

Football Talent Scout has likened Silva to Ruben Dias and called him a ‘complete and dominant central defender’.

Meanwhile, Neves – a defensive midfielder – has been praised by Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who deemed him “excellent” and ready for Premier League football.

Benfica’s business model seems to factor in turning prospects into stars and selling them for a profit, so it’s not as though the Red Devils would struggle to convince them to sell if they have the money.

In addition, both players are reportedly on £14,000-a-week, so offering wages significantly higher also shouldn’t be an issue for Manchester United.
