Chelsea are now making considerable strides in their quest to replace Mauricio Pochettino and have met with one candidate several times.

Todd Boehly and his team are thought to be very keen to have a new boss in place well before the start of pre-season, with friendly fixtures beginning in July.

Despite his strong end to the season, Mauricio Pochettino’s relationship with the Chelsea top-brass clearly became untenable, meaning they couldn’t envision a harmonious future together.

That call was met by derision among Chelsea fans, who could finally see a platform for success forming at the club once again.

Of course, whoever replaces Pochettino will have a much easier task than the Argentinian, who leaves this squad in a fairly healthy position.

It would now appear that departing Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi is the manager in pole position to land the job, but it’s a situation that is constantly changing.

Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna was previously the front-runner, a manager who is now firmly on Manchester United’s radar according to reports.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been in regular contact with Chelsea

Brentford’s Thomas Frank is another manager who is being linked with both the Chelsea and Man United job this summer.

And according to a report by the Daily Briefing stemming from journalist Christian Falk, the 50-year-old could be among the leading contenders at Stamford Bridge.

Sharing his update on the situation, Falk said that Frank has now had multiple meetings with Chelsea and is a candidate to take over.

The ‘high-pressing’ Dane was also being considered by Bayern Munich before Vincent Kompany was eventually chosen.

According to this information, Frank has also met with the Old Trafford bosses on one occasion too, given they are considering a replacement for Erik ten Hag.

It’s a managerial merry-go-round that promises a lot of surprises to come.

Would Frank be better suited to Chelsea than De Zerbi?

With Brentford’s Frank and Brighton’s De Zerbi both firmly in the mix for Chelsea, it’s interesting to consider who fans would prefer.

De Zerbi seemingly became disillusioned about plans at Brighton, which led to his mutual departure.

A relatively young manager who could achieve so much in his future career, but one who isn’t afraid to speak his truth.

And although Frank would likely air his concerns amid similar frustrations, he’s seemingly enjoyed a much more harmonious relationship with the Brentford board.

All that being said, one candidate for the Chelsea job has recently rejected an approach from Spanish side Sevilla.
