Everton are now set to hold talks about signing a player Tottenham sold back in September 2023.

As the dust settles on a chaotic 2023/24 campaign – which saw Everton hit with two separate points deductions – recruitment plans are underway as the Toffees aim to avoid yet another relegation battle.

Sean Dyche actually ended up coaching the Premier League’s fourth best defence last season, as Everton conceded just 51 goals in 38 outings – only Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal shipped fewer goals.

Despite that superb record, Everton still want to bolster the backline…

Everton want Davinson Sanchez

A story from Sabah in Turkey now claims that Everton want to sign Galatasaray No.6 Davinson Sanchez.

The Colombia international joined the Turkish giants in a £8.1m deal from Tottenham back in September 2023 – but he has since reignited his career in Istanbul.

Sanchez made 33 appearances in all competitions throughout the 2023/24 campaign – scoring three goals while also providing two assists – form which has taken his value up to €25m (£21m) according to Sabah.

The Turkish news outlet add that Everton are expected to sit down and hold talks with Galatasaray about the South American after Sunday’s Super Lig finale against Konyaspor.

Sabah also mention that Napoli are keen to sign Sanchez – as are West Ham – so the Toffees face competition.

Potential Jarrad Branthwaite replacement

As aforesaid, Everton boasted a tremendous defensive record in the 2023/24 campaign, so it wouldn’t make much sense for Dyche to alter his backline.

However, the 52-year-old may be forced into doing so, amid strong interest from Premier League rivals in Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Daily Mail believe Tottenham are very keen to sign the Everton No.32 this summer, as Ange Postecoglou aims to strengthen his own defence.

Elsewhere – according to Give Me Sport – Manchester United are also interested in Branthwaite, and hope to sign the man from Carlisle for £50m.

Even Real Madrid have been credited with a desire to sign the Englishman.

Therefore, Sanchez could well arrive at Goodison Park as Branthwaite’s replacement – be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
