Chelsea are keen on signing a £20.5m-rated player who is one of the best dribbles in Europe, according to a recent report.

Despite not having a manager in post following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure, the West Londoners remain hard at work identifying summer targets.

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, as has former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Surely, until then, any forthcoming deals in the market will be on hold but recent reports seem to suggest otherwise, as Chelsea are eager to land a young Frenchman.

Chelsea want to sign Rayan Cherki

According to Jeunes Footeux, Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki is back on Chelsea’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing 20-year-old, who is out of contract next year.

As such, Cherki is expected to be available for £20.5m, which for a player of his calibre, seems very low.

The report further claims that Chelsea are expected to outbid PSG and any other interested parties – with Newcastle United another potential suitor circling.

Rayan Cherki statistics

Cherki netted three times whilst laying on eight assists last term, operating across a number of positions in the forward line.

As per FBref, he ranks in the top two per cent for successful take-ons compared to his positional peers across the big five leagues.

Such data suggests he’s one of the best dribblers in Europe and he also sits in the top four per cent for progressive passes.

The 2003-born playmaker would be a terrific addition to Chelsea and one that wouldn’t break the bank.
