Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his ranks for another big season.

The Gunners aren’t out of the Premier League title picture, but Manchester City’s win at Tottenham means Arteta’s charges need to hope for a miracle on the final day.

Nevertheless, Arsenal have clearly made progress this season, and since Arteta took the reins in 2019, the Gunners have come a very long way.

We could potentially see changes in midfield this summer amid uncertain futures for the likes of Thomas Partey, Fabio Vieira and Albert Sambi Lokonga.

And according to a report from CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal have made enquiries regarding one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.

The Gunners have reportedly made contact with the camp of Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes over a potential summer move.

Jacobs wrote on CaughtOffside: “Newcastle also don’t want to lose Bruno Guimaraes, but the decision could be taken out of their hands if someone triggers his £100million release clause, which is valid between late May and the end of June.

“As long as the clause is active, Newcastle are going to simply point to its value, but it’s understood offers exceeding £80million could be entertained should Guimaraes wish to leave for a Champions League club.

“It should be stressed, Guimaraes is happy at Newcastle, but it’s also true that both Manchester City and Arsenal have made contact with his camp.

“Manchester City are the most active of the suitors. Arsenal appreciate Guimaraes, but have no intention to trigger his clause meaning they would only enter the race if the price drops.

“PSG have also considered Guimaraes but decided against moving forward this summer, and will instead focus on trying to land Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.”

Bruno Guimaraes would be a dream signing for Arsenal

We’ve all seen what Bruno can do in the Premier League and in the Brazil national team. He is a player of the highest calibre who’s yet to enter his prime and would be an outstanding signing for Arsenal.

“He’s such an important player and he’s done so well since he joined the club,” Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said after Bruno penned his new contract in October 2023.

“He has been a huge success since he’s been here so I just hope that he can continue in that vein and carry on his success with us.

“I think he epitomises the recent success we’ve had. He’s put in so many good displays, he’s very consistent and he’s got a great personality off the pitch as well.”

Newcastle don’t have much room with regards to staying on the right side of Financial Fair Play regulations this summer, so they may well have to cash in on some of their most valuable players if they want to bolster their ranks.

With that in mind, Arsenal may well look to pounce, even if competition will be fierce and they’ll have to be mindful of how much they can spend this summer, considering they’ll likely have other key positions to strengthen.
