Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad further.

The Gunners have enjoyed a strong campaign and remain in the Premier League title picture going into the final day of the season.

Arsenal will almost certainly not rest on their laurels ahead of the 2024/25 campaign as they look to challenge on four fronts once again.

The Gunners could do with bolstering their attacking ranks this summer. They don’t have an out-and-out No. 9, and may need strength in depth on the flanks too.

Now, one attacking talent Arsenal have been linked with in recent months could potentially cost less than previously reported.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee has an agreement in place with his club to leave for €40million (£34million).

Speculation over the past few months claimed that only Bayern Munich had an option to re-sign the 22-year-old for that fee.

However, the Italian outlet claims that Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, has negotiated the clause so that it applies to any suitors willing to pay it.

Joorabchian apparently worked the deal so that if Bayern re-sign the striker back and then sell him on, the agent would receive the difference.

Prior reports suggested that clubs aside from Bayern that want Zirkzee would have to pay £50million, so this report is great news for the likes of Arsenal.

The 22-year-old is a quality player with a very high ceiling, so it’s not surprising that Mikel Arteta and Edu are apparently pursuing him.

Indeed, Voetbal International journalist Souleyman Ozturk claimed that Zirkzee was better than Erling Haaland in 2022.

He said, as transcribed by football.london: “Zirkzee is better than Erling Haaland at everything.

“Now you may be dismayed because of this statement. But I will frame it.

“(Zirkzee) has vision, technique, strength, charisma, flair, footballing ability. He is therefore better than Haaland in almost everything.

“Imagine if Zirkzee had the energy and focus of Haaland. Then he would be the best striker in the world.”
