Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has made his mind up about Radu Dragusin’s future at the club.

Spurs showed what they’re capable of at the start of the 2023/24 campaign, but it became clear as the season went on that they don’t have the squad to compete with the top clubs.

As a result, Tottenham are expected to be very active in the summer window, and some players could be shown the door.

Dragusin has been linked with a move away from Spurs despite only joining them in January.

What Ange Postecoglou has decided to do with Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin

Tottenham signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa in a £26.7 million deal in January 2024 (Sky Sports).

Spurs were in a big battle with German giants Bayern Munich for the Romanian’s signature. There was a point when it looked like he was heading to the Bundesliga.

However, Daniel Levy got the job done in the end, and Dragusin came in with a lot of hype.

The 22-year-old is a very good defender. He has huge potential, but he was always going to be behind Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in the pecking order.

That became clear as the season went on – Dragusin was given just four starts by Ange Postecoglou.

The defender’s agent was clearly not happy with that, so much so that he decided to publicly offer some tactical advice to Postecoglou to accommodate Dragusin in the side.

That led to claims that Tottenham could sell Dragusin this summer, but TeamTalk have just shared that Postecoglou’s view is completely different.

The report claims that the Tottenham boss sees Dragusin as a ‘vital member of the squad going forward and a player who will soon find his feet in north London and the Premier League’.

It has further been claimed that Postecoglou is ‘determined’ to keep Dragusin and has no plan of selling the Romanian this summer.

Radu Dragusin has something to be positive about

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are Tottenham’s undisputed first-choice centre-backs, and something drastic will have to happen for that to change.

That means Radu Dragusin will only be a backup at Spurs in the Premier League next season.

That could definitely frustrate the Romanian and his agent, who has been very vocal about his client since his big move to Tottenham in January.

However, the one big positive for Dragusin is that Spurs will be in the Europa League next season, where the standard of opposition will not be as high as in the Premier League, especially in the early stages.

Postecoglou will have the opportunity to rotate his side there, and we’re sure Dragusin will get to start many more games than he did in the 2023/24 campaign.
