Harry Kane has been full of praise for one Manchester United player.

Manchester United haven’t been good this season, there’s no doubt about it, but they still have some fantastic players on their books.

Indeed, while United have their issues on the pitch, you can’t question what some of their players have achieved in this game, and one such player is Raphael Varane.

Speaking to Goal on TikTok, Harry Kane was asked to build an ‘ultimate defender’ to stop him from scoring goals, and interestingly, he picked Varane when it came to pace.

Harry Kane praises Raphael Varane’s pace

Kane spoke about Varane and how quick he is.

“Speed?” Kane was asked.

“Do you know who’s really quick? Varane,” Kane said.

Raphael Varane isn’t reliable

Kane is right, when he’s fit and firing and at his best, Varane is one of the quickest and most physically imposing defenders in the Premier League.

Unfortunately though, the £41m man is far from reliable.

Ever since joining Manchester United he’s had consistent underlying injury issues to the point that he’s barely been able to play this season, and, according to some, that pace that he was once famous for has deserted him.

The Frenchman’s contract is up this summer, and all the signs point towards a departure on a free transfer.

Varane’s legacy is certainly secure after winning everything there is to win during his time at Real Madrid, but, unfortunately, this chapter of his career at Manchester United has been underwhelming, and, ultimately, he has to be considered as one of a long list of poor signings by the Red Devils in recent years.

In his prime, Varane is exactly the type of player Kane would’ve hated to play against, but these days, you’re lucky to even get a game out of Varane, let alone a solid performance.

Sadly, fitness issues have affected Varane too much for him to be regarded as a Premier League great.
