Having already closed a deal for Kylian Mbappe, whose arrival was confirmed earlier this week, Real Madrid have now moved on to their next transfer target, which is Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies. The 23-year-old has been in the sights of Los Blancos for some time now, and they want to get a deal done in the coming weeks/months.
Davies is out of contract in 2025, and Bayern are prepared to let him leave this summer if they are unable to secure a renewal. Real Madrid have held new discussions with the Canadian international’s representatives in recent days, although they are currently unwilling to pay the reported €50m asking price, and would prefer to wait to sign him for free next summer.
However, they may not get that chance, as Bild (via Diario AS) have reported that Bayern have tabled a new contract offer to Davies, believed to be worth €13m-per-year. The good news for Real Madrid is that the 23-year-old wants a yearly salary of €20m, which Bayern are not prepared to offer.
It will be very interesting to see how Davies’ situation plays out over the summer. He is currently preparing for the 2024 Copa America, but once his involvement ends, there should be further moves. Real Madrid will hope that he continues to hold off on signing a new contract.
