Real Madrid set €80m asking price to sign defensive target this summer

Earlier this week, reports emerged of Real Madrid’s concrete interest in Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold. The 25-year-old’s entourage have already spoken with the European champions, who are in need of a long-term right-back to succeed Dani Carvajal (32) and Lucas Vazquez (33).

Alexander-Arnold sees his Liverpool contract expire next summer, and despite being a boyhood fan of the Premier League, it does appear that there are chances for him to depart. Real Madrid could try to pick him up for free in 2025, although that would depend on a renewal continuing to not be signed.

If Real Madrid were to make an effort to sign Alexander-Arnold this summer, TEAMtalk have reported that they would need to pay €80m. That’s the asking price set by Liverpool, who appear confident of keeping their man beyond his current contract.

Real Madrid may have extra money to spend now that they’ve missed out on Leny Yoro, but it would be very surprising if they tried to sign Alexander-Arnold this summer – and even if they did, it certainly would not be for €80m. Carvajal and Lucas will almost certainly continue as the only right-back options for the 2024-25 campaign.
