Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out of Wednesday’s Super Cup clash with Atalanta through injury.

The France international was heard screaming on the ground following a collision with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni and had to limp out of training on Tuesday after picking up an apparent knee injury.

While he managed to leave the pitch on his own accord, Camavinga’s condition still caused visible concern among Carlo Ancelotti and his staff and the 21-year-old was quickly sent for checks on his injury.

Full in-depth scans have not yet been performed but, as first revealed by Jose Luis Sanchez, club doctors are already satisfied that Camavinga has not suffered a serious injury.

However, considering Camavinga’s injury occurred just 24 hours before the Super Cup final, AS note that Madrid have ruled the midfielder out of the game.

Importantly, the injury is to the opposite knee which caused problems for Camavinga last season. Another training ground clash saw him ruled out for close to two months with ligament damage to the opposite knee.

It is said that Camavinga was actually scheduled to start Wednesday’s game but Ancelotti will not take any risks with the 21-year-old and is revising his plan for the match.

Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham are both expected to start and they should be joined by either Tchouameni or Luka Modric.

Madrid fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of new forward Kylian Mbappe, but previous reports have suggested Ancelotti will remain loyal to the players who inspired last season’s Champions League success.

Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are likely to start in attack, although how Ancelotti will shape his team in response to Camavinga’s injury remains to be seen.
