Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane reiterates desire to return to management – ‘It’s been too long’

Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has once again declared his desire to return to management, now three years on from his departure at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 51-year-old is presumably not short of offers, but has not found the right one since.

In February, Zidane declared that he would return to management shortly, after missing out on the France job last year, when Didier Deschamps was extended. He explained that while he may find the job exhausting, he does miss coaching.

“Although it takes a lot of energy from me, the break from coaching has become too long,” he told Carre, as quoted by Marca.

“Life as a coach tires me, even though I miss it a little. But I’m having a good time. We’ll see when I return to coaching.”

Los Blancos, and the Castilla side, are the only teams he has ever coached, with two successful spells at the Santiago Bernabeu. He has not been short of opportunities, in theory, either though. Former clubs Juventus and Olympique Marseille have both changed managers of late, while he reportedly turned down approaches from Bayern Munich and Manchester United too.
