Arsenal have a busy summer in store.
The Gunners are just one or two signings away from being genuine Champions League contenders, but, at the same time, their squad is at a point where a few departures also have to be considered.
The likes of Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe probably need to leave in search of more gametime, while some of the Gunners’ older players are at a bit of a crossroads as well.
Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Alex Crook has been discussing Arsenal’s plans this summer, and he’s stated that Thomas Partey is potentially a player Arsenal could let go.
Arsenal could sell Thomas Partey
Crook spoke about the ‘unbelievable’ midfielder and the idea that he could leave.
“It could be a busy summer, what they do with Emile Smith Rowe, he will want regular football at his age. Thomas Partey, despite what Adrian has been saying, could be another potential departure if the Saudi Pro League come calling,” Crook said.
Thomas Partey could be worth selling
Arsenal may be wise to sell Partey this summer.
At the age of 30, Partey isn’t going to be improving massively from this point, and if Arsenal do receive a decent offer the Ghanaian, it may be worth considering their options.
Partey is, of course, a very talented player, but when you hit the wrong side of 30 your value is only going to decrease.
With Profit and Sustainability Rules proving to be a bigger and bigger problem in the Premier League, sales will be vital for any club to balance the books, and selling Partey to a club in Saudi Arabia could be a great way for Arsenal to recoup some much-needed cash and bolster their squad in other positions.
Keep an eye on Partey’s situation this summer, as it sounds as though he could be on the move.
