Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is optimistic about the return of Bernardo Silva after the Portugal international sustained an injury during Tuesday’s match against Red Star. Silva left the game before half-time due to a knock, contributing to City’s ongoing injury challenges.
Guardiola acknowledged the team’s injury situation, emphasizing the importance of several key players currently sidelined. However, he provided a positive update during his Friday press conference, stating that Silva’s injury is minor and expects him to be back in action within a week to ten days.
While Silva is likely to miss the upcoming match against Nottingham Forest and possibly the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, he could make his return in the Champions League clash against RB Leipzig on October 4. Guardiola is keen to have Silva and other injured stars available for a crucial match against Arsenal just four days later.
Guardiola speculated that the team’s injury woes could be attributed to a packed schedule and the absence of sufficient rest. He mentioned the return of players like Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic from their respective injuries, but noted that Bernardo Silva, John Stones, and Kevin De Bruyne are still sidelined.
