Tottenham Hotspur had a fruitful summer on the transfer front, making a host of exciting signings for both the present and the future.

Spurs signed Dominic Solanke to bolster their attacking ranks with the first out-and-out No. 9 they’re recruited since Harry Kane’s departure.

Tottenham have also signed a number of talented youngsters, with Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, Yang Min-hyuk and Lucas Bergvall now all on the books at N17.

Ange Postecoglou has also sought to streamline his squad and, as such, there were multiple departures from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The latest of these came late on during transfer deadline day, with Spurs selling Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis, the club who sold him to the Lilywhites in 2019.

According to Marca, Tottenham have received €5million for Lo Celso, a 50 percent sell-on clause, and first refusal for Johnny Cardoso.

Pedro Porro, Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil wish Giovani Lo Celso all the best as he swaps Tottenham for Real Betis

The Argentina international took to Instagram with a heartfelt message for Spurs and the fans, which saw praise from supporters and peers.

“Eternally grateful to all the employees at Spurs, the coaches, and teammates with whom I have shared these wonderful years, and, of course, to the fans who never stopped supporting me,” he wrote.

“You have been a great support for me and the reason why I have given everything for this badge. I will always carry you in my heart.”

Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil were among those who paid tribute to Lo Celso in wake of his departure from Tottenham.

Solomon wrote “all the best amigo”, while Gil wrote in Spanish: “You deserve to be happy friend, good luck!”

Lo Celso also had a post for Betis fans, captioned: “The paths were destined to meet again! Happy to be here again.”

Pedro Porro was among the players who replied on the latter post, saying: “All the best little brother! Let’s go with everything.”

The likes of Angel Di Maria and Marc Bartra also wished Lo Celso well in the comments.

Tottenham and Lo Celso just not meant to be

Lo Celso has split opinion over the course of his Spurs career. For one reason or another, his career at Tottenham has never really got going.

However, he is spoken of very highly in Spain and in Argentina, for whom he plays regularly.

He has won two Copa America trophies and would’ve been in the 2022 World Cup-winning squad were it not for injury.

It’s good to see Lo Celso finally leave Spurs, who in turn could be set for a nice payday – as well as first dibs for Cardoso – in future.
