Barcelona and Pedri have faced challenges in the 2023/24 La Liga season. Amidst Barcelona’s struggle to defend their league title, Pedri has encountered difficulties, missing 13 games due to recurring hamstring injuries.
A significant factor in Barcelona’s struggles has been Robert Lewandowski’s reduced goal output. Despite scoring 23 goals in the previous season, the seasoned striker has only managed eight in the first half of this season.
Consequently, Barcelona currently ranks as the lowest-scoring team in the top four. During a live stream with Ibai Llanos, Pedri shared his dream signing for Barcelona, expressing interest in Erling Haaland joining the club once Lewandowski concludes his career.
Pedri stated, “For Barca, I would sign Haaland. He’s a cyborg. He scores a lot of goals. Lewandowski is not going to last until he is 60. Julian Alvarez is also playing very well, ‘the spider,’ he’s a very good player.”
Haaland has been delivering exceptional performances at Man City since his arrival in June 2022, setting the single-season Premier League goalscoring record during their treble-winning season.
In contrast to Lewandowski, Haaland has maintained his outstanding form from the 2022/23 season into the current campaign, netting an impressive 19 goals in 22 games across all competitions.
Although Haaland is viewed as Pedri’s ideal replacement for Lewandowski, Barcelona has already made a €40m investment to secure the talents of young striker Vitor Roque.
The 18-year-old, who has greatly impressed at Athletico Paranaense in Brazil, is scheduled to join the club in 2024.
