Newcastle United have made a fairly solid start to the 2024/25 campaign despite their struggles over the summer.
Eddie Howe‘s side have suffered some inconsistency of late with no win in the Premier League since their away trip to Wolves.
However, Newcastle are only sitting two points off Chelsea who currently occupy fourth spot in the table.
There have been some major tensions unfolding behind the scenes at Newcastle over recent weeks on the back of the summer window.
Howe is believed to already have a fractured relationship Paul Mitchell with the sporting director failing to impress over the summer.
But there is already one player who is on the club’s radar ahead of the January transfer window already.
Newcastle already eyeing January move for ‘amazing’ forward
The Toon were left waiting all summer for a big name signing which just did not arrive in the end.
Newcastle were keen to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace but the Magpies were unable to stirke a deal with the Eagles.
But there was another name who Newcastle had on their radar and they could well be turning their attention back to over the January window.
According to The Athletic, Newcastle are still showing an interest in Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga ahead of the winter market.
This comes following Newcastle’s interest in the ‘amazing’ Elanga over the summer with the Toon making a late move for the winger.
Although Elanga is said to still be on Newcastle’s radar, it is claimed Mitchell is still looking to expand Newcastle’s targets for the upcoming window.
Anthony Elanga has struggled so far this season
It has not exactly been the start to the 2024/25 campaign which Elanga will have hoped for at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest may have surprised a lot of people with some of their results which have seen them beat the likes of Liverpool at Anfield.
However, Elanga has only been able to make four starts in the league where he has only returned a single assist.
Elanga’s stock may well have decreased on the back of a really positive 2023/24 season but the likes of Howe still seem to remain interested in potentially signing the Sweden international.
