Jamie Redknapp has claimed that a key Tottenham Hotspur player has gone ‘off the boil’ recently.

Ange Postecoglou is currently facing his toughest spell as Spurs boss since his switch from Celtic last summer.

The Aussie has lost four Premier League games on the bounce, something that hasn’t happened at Spurs since 2004.

Defeats to Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all but ended Spurs’ hopes of a top-four finish, with Postecoglou’s men seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Key players seem to have lost form at the worst possible time for Postecoglou, particularly in the middle of the park.

Redknapp says Yves Bissouma has gone ‘off the boil’

Speaking on talkSPORT [07/05 9:44 am], Redknapp discussed Spurs’ recent run of form and highlighted the performances of Bissouma and James Maddison in midfield.

“Obviously [Destiny] Udogie is not playing at left-back and he makes a bit of a difference,” the former Spurs man said. “He played Emerson Royal at left-back against Salah the other day, it was a mismatch. He had so much success down that side.”

Redknapp added: “I’m not sure whether it’s a case of them being found out or anything like that. It feels like he’s struggling with the players, he’s trying to change the midfield.

“Maddison looked like he was indispensable earlier in the season, he’s been left out the last couple of games. Bissouma’s been off the boil.

“It did look better when Son went to the left and Richarlison came on. He gave them a bit more of a threat and a bit of appetite to get after the ball. But it’s been really poor.”

Bissouma to head out the exit door at Tottenham this summer?

Postecoglou has been vocal about the need for ‘change’ at Spurs this summer, hinting that players and staff could head out the door.

Bissouma got off to a flyer under the Aussie boss earlier this season, with Tottenham unbeaten after 10 games played with the Mali international at the base of the midfield.

But since his red card at Luton Town back in October, Bissouma’s form has been patchy at best.

Indeed, the 27-year-old featured just seven times between the trip to Luton in early February. This was down to his involvement in AFCON 2024 and receiving another red card in a 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest mid December.

It’s been a stop-start season for Bissouma after such an encouraging start and some at Spurs reportedly believe the midfielder may not be the right fit for Postecoglou’s style.
