Almost a year after Chelsea unofficially completed Christopher Nkunku’s signing, the Frenchman found himself in the Premier League matchday squad.

While Chelsea sealed the £52m deal in June, a knee injury during pre-season kept the 26-year-old sidelined until now.

Excitement buzzed around Stamford Bridge as fans learned Nkunku was among the substitutes for Sheffield United’s visit. Despite the potential to inject energy into a lackluster 2-0 victory, Mauricio Pochettino chose to keep him on the bench.
