Napoli’s hopes in the Coppa Italia were shattered on Tuesday with a devastating 4-0 loss to Frosinone, where they struggled to contain their opponents.
The turning point came in the 65th minute when Frosinone seized the lead, capitalizing on a defensive lapse that allowed Enzo Barrenechea a clear header from six yards, finding the far top corner. The defeat marked a disappointing exit for Napoli in the competition.
Surprisingly, Napoli faced further setbacks as Frosinone capitalized on a disallowed goal, doubling their lead in a strikingly similar scenario.
This time, Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s back-pass found a vulnerable spot, intercepted by Caso, who scored one-on-one against Pierluigi Gollini.
The situation worsened when Di Lorenzo conceded a penalty by catching Francesco Gelli on the toe, with Cheddira, on loan from Napoli, converting it.
In the dying moments, Abdou Harroui raced down the center, beating Gollini one-on-one, and the final whistle was drowned out by the resounding jeers from the disappointed crowd.
