AC Milan is currently in discussions with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding the potential extension of Samuel Chukwueze’s release date for the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2023 camp.
The Super Eagles squad is slated to convene in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, no later than January 1, 2024.
Their first match in the tournament, where they aim for a fourth AFCON title, is scheduled against Equatorial Guinea in Côte d’Ivoire on January 14.
Sempre Milan’s latest report indicates that, as per Peppe Di Stefano on Sky (via Radio Rossonera), Samuel Chukwueze is set to feature in Milan’s upcoming match against Sassuolo on Saturday, December 30th. Following this, Chukwueze is anticipated to depart for Super Eagles duties.
In a twist, Di Stefano disclosed that Milan is in talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) with the aim of persuading them to grant permission for Chukwueze’s departure from Italy on January 3rd.
The aim behind negotiating the delayed departure of Samuel Chukwueze is to ensure his availability for Milan’s Coppa Italia round of 16 showdown against Cagliari.
In addition to Chukwueze, there is a possibility of another Milan player, Algeria’s Ismael Bennacer, joining the camp later than the scheduled date.
