Ex-Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi is supporting his fellow countryman Victor Boniface in his quest to become a top striker.
Boniface, who joined Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen from Union St Gilloise last summer, has adapted well, displaying excellent form with 10 goals in 16 league matches and has also contributed with seven assists.
Mikel expressed confidence that Boniface will develop into a complete striker in the coming years, praising his physical attributes, speed, ball control, and technical skills.
He also emphasized that Boniface’s ability to contribute both in scoring goals and providing assists makes him “really, really special,” and he eagerly anticipates witnessing the player’s journey in the coming years.
“He (Boniface) will become a complete striker in the next couple of years. He has the physique, he is quick, good on the ball, technically very good and it’s difficult to see strikers that are that big and strong and powerful and then good on the ball as well,”Mikel told Obionepodcast.
“His assists as well, not just scoring goals, is something that will make this kid special, really, really special. I can’t wait to see what his journey will be in the next couple of years.”
Additionally, Victor Boniface is currently with the Super Eagles in their AFCON quest as they aim to secure the trophy for the fourth time in Cote d’Ivoire.
