Under Erik ten Hag’s guidance, United continued their impressive winning streak in the Premier League. Goals from Rashford and Martial in the second half, along with Alejandro Garnacho’s spectacular overhead kick, contributed to the team’s success. Rashford had an opportunity to extend the lead through a penalty after Ashley Young’s challenge on Anthony Martial.

The regular penalty taker and team captain, Bruno Fernandes, allowed Marcus Rashford to take the spot-kick. Rashford confidently converted the penalty with a powerful strike, and during his celebration, he was observed glancing up at the sky.

Following the match, Rashford expressed his tribute to his late cousin on Instagram. Alongside two pictures of himself from the game, he penned, “Yesterday’s goal is dedicated to my cousin who passed away recently. GBNF (Gone but never forgotten).”

The goal was just the second Rashford has scored this season, with his last strike coming in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal back in early September.

Feeling that Marcus Rashford needed a boost in confidence, Bruno Fernandes made the gesture to allow him to take the penalty. Fernandes expressed his confidence in Rashford’s abilities as a spot-kick taker, stating, “I felt Marcus needed a bit of confidence, and as Marcus is an excellent penalty taker too, I’m 100 percent sure that he could score that penalty,” Fernandes said.

“It’s not about who takes it, it’s about scoring the penalty, and Marcus did it perfectly. Obviously strikers and wingers, they want to score goals, they need to score goals. That’s part of their game, and it gives you more of a boost.

“I think after the penalty, Marcus was unstoppable. He could take on everyone. “So I think sometimes you need this chance, this opportunity to get your confidence back, but Marcus has been great for us.”

Manchester United faces a significant Champions League showdown against Galatasaray on Wednesday. However, Marcus Rashford won’t be available due to his suspension following a red card in the team’s 4-3 loss to Copenhagen.
