Manchester United and Arsenal are both looking to sign a top striker.

The Red Devils and the Gunners already have some excellent forwards, such as Marcus Rashford, Gabriel Jesus, Joshua Zirkzee and Kai Havertz, although none of these names are among the very elite, who hit 30 goals every season.

Manchester United do hold a desire to sign one striker who is seemingly on the cusp of becoming that elite marksman – although Arsenal will need to be knocked out of pole position…

Manchester United want Benjamin Sesko

A story from Give Me Sport now claims that Manchester United are interested in signing Benjamin Sesko.

It is said that those on the recruitment team at Old Trafford admire the Slovenia international, who scored 18 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season.

However, Give Me Sport believe Sesko – who has been called “better” than Erling Haaland by some teammates – would have joined Arsenal during the summer transfer window if he had chosen to leave RB Leipzig, with the Gunners his No.1 choice.

The RB Leipzig No.30 is expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2025 – according to Give Me Sport – with Manchester United described as having work to do in order to make him ignore Arsenal.

In case you missed it, Arsenal actually could have signed Sesko for £55m had he opted to leave, due to a release clause in his contract – which has now expired.

Instead, the 21-year-old is now being valued at £96.3m by the CIES Football Observatory.

That is not RB Leipzig’s definitive asking price for Sesko – as far as we know – but it does serve to prove that the Slovenian’s value has risen drastically throughout 2024.

Arsenal could sell Gabriel Jesus to make room

During the summer transfer window, strong rumours emerged that Arsenal were happy to sell Gabriel Jesus if a respectable bid arrived.

The Brazil international ended up staying in north London – as Eddie Nketiah left for Crystal Palace instead – but with Arsenal still keen on Sesko, we believe the South American will be sold to make space if a deal materialises in 2025.

Jesus has already experienced further injury problems this season, and is yet to start in the Premier League, so a sale in 2025 would not surprise us one bit.
