Man City could end up paying out up to £262million in bonuses and add-ons after their fourth successive Premier League triumph.

West Ham were swatted aside by City on Sunday to secure the title ahead of Arsenal, who narrowly missed out for the second year in a row.

And with the FA Cup final against Man United still to come, Pep Guardiola‘s men stand to earn huge performance-related bonuses again this season.

In fact, City’s latest set of accounts outline the upper limit in terms of how much their triumph will cost them – although this is of course offset by the money they earn for winning the trophy in the first place.

How much will Man City pay other teams after winning the premier League?

City’s latest set of accounts detail their finances for the treble-winning 2022-23 season, but they also show how much they could theoretically owe in bonuses and add-ons this season.

The contingent liabilities section of their financial statement shows that City could this season owe an eye-watering £262m to players and clubs from whom they’ve signed players.

While the true figure will likely be lower than that, £262m is the maximum amount that the champions could theoretically have to pay.

How do City’s bonuses compare to other teams?

City’s contingent liabilities are the highest in the league – and by a significant margin.

Football finance expert Swiss Ramble’s analysis shows that that figure is almost twice as high as second-place Man United’s total of £133m and is almost as much as the rest of the so-called ‘Big Six’ combined.

City have used heavily incentivised contracts to their advantage and are certainly reaping the rewards of their performance related structure.

Which City players will get the biggest bonuses?

While there is no official breakdown of which players will get what, it has been reported that City’s biggest stars could earn as much as £2m apiece for their title victory.

The amount they will bank will correlate roughly with their base salary, meaning the highest paid players will also scoop the biggest bonuses.

That means that Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, Bernado Silva, Phil Foden and John Stones are in line for bumper bonuses approaching £2m.

And while bonus payments for the FA Cup will be significantly more modest, City players could see that figure topped up if they clinch the trophy at Wembley at Man United this weekend.

Their bonuses this season are likely to be some way short of their their pay-outs in 2022-23, however.

The exact amount that they dished out in bonuses to their treble winners is not known but is covered in their £423m wage bill, which represented a massive £69m upswing on the previous season.
