Manchester City Eye Fulham’s Joao Palhinha Amid Kalvin Phillips’ Potential Exit
Reports suggest Manchester City is considering a move for Joao Palhinha from Fulham. The 28-year-old almost joined Bayern Munich in the previous transfer window but stayed put and signed a new contract until 2028. However, rumors persist about his future with interest from various clubs.
The Sun reports that Manchester City is entering the pursuit for Palhinha, joining Liverpool and Bayern. Fulham values the player at £60 million. Pep Guardiola sees Palhinha as an ideal addition to City’s midfield, especially with Kalvin Phillips expected to depart soon to accommodate the new signing.
Phillips, aged 28, faced speculation about leaving Etihad Stadium in the summer. He joined from Leeds in 2022 but faced limited playing time. Despite this, he opted to stay at the club, aiming to compete for a spot in the team.
The main reason Palhinha’s transfer to Bayern Munich on deadline day collapsed was Fulham’s inability to find a suitable replacement in time. If Manchester City decide to sell Phillips to acquire Palhinha and add a substantial transfer fee, it could benefit both teams involved in the deal.
