Despite dominating possession with 66%, the Red Devils suffered a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday, managing only three shots on target at London Stadium.
This loss marks the fourth consecutive game without a goal for Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag’s team scoring just twice in their last six matches across all competitions.
Notably, Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, and Antony have collectively contributed only two goals in the Premier League season, both from Rashford.
Addressing the team’s offensive struggles, defender Luke Shaw expressed his bewilderment, stating, “It’s tough to think what’s going on.
I think maybe we’re just not creating enough, and when we do, on the other hand, we’re not clinical,” in an interview with TNT Sports.
Stay tuned for updates on Manchester United’s efforts to address their scoring challenges.
“Perhaps there’s a current lack of confidence; it’s a common phase in football. Despite this, we must maintain a positive outlook.
With a crucial match against Aston Villa on the horizon, we can’t dwell on our recent struggles. It’s a home game, and dropping points is not an option; we need to secure victories.
“Our ongoing pattern of losing games and points is making our journey much more challenging, especially in the second half, where our performance has fallen short.
“In the first half, we controlled the game and had opportunities. Scoring the first goal could have altered the outcome, but unfortunately, we didn’t. As a result, we faced difficulties in the second half, and this standard is unacceptable.
“Looking ahead, Shaw and Manchester United are gearing up for a Boxing Day showdown against the formidable Aston Villa at Old Trafford.”
