There was some worry when Ruben Loftus-Cheek came off during the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United, but he has avoided any kind of injury.
Today’s edition of Il Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recalls that Milan dominated virtually the entire game against Newcastle and it was in part thanks to the performance of Loftus-Cheek, who did an excellent job limiting the opposition’s midfield.
When he went to the floor with around 20 minutes of the game left there was instantly panic that he might have suffered some kind of a muscle problem, but as it turns out his pain was only due to cramp.
Despite this, it was another message to Pioli that he must rotate the squad carefully to avoid key players being overworked, something that is particularly topical given the games against Verona and Cagliari coming up.
The aim is to rest the injured players, such as Mike Maignan and Loftus-Cheek, while the attack could also be given a shake-up to reduce some of the work load on the regular starters.
