Kylian Mbappe is required to communicate his decision about his future to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi as part of an arrangement with the French club.
While Mbappe’s contract with PSG concludes at the end of the 2023/24 season, he and his representatives have emphasized that a choice between staying at Parc des Princes or departing this summer has not been finalized.
Despite recent reports suggesting an agreement with Real Madrid, Mbappe’s camp has denied such claims, countering a statement from Foot Mercato.
PSG remains composed about the situation, confident that a legal agreement could mean up to €80m in bonuses might be returned even if Mbappe leaves on a free transfer.
Notably, Mbappe opted against activating a one-year extension last summer, forfeiting a loyalty bonus of €40m.
Mbappe has assured PSG’s Al-Khelaifi that he will be the first to know his decision, keeping his destination for the next season undecided.
Expressing determination to participate in France’s home Olympics, agreed upon in his existing deal if he extended until 2025, Mbappe’s commitment clashes with the potential timeframe of Real Madrid’s preseason.
Playing at Euro 2024 and the Olympics, combined with training and required rest, would render Mbappe largely unavailable for a new club throughout June, July, and much of August.
Simultaneously, Al-Khelaifi publicly expressed his desire for Mbappe to extend his contract with PSG, emphasizing the club’s centrality to the player.
