Kulusevski’s Late Goal Secures Draw for Spurs Against Man City

A late 89th-minute header by Dejan Kulusevski secured a thrilling 3-3 draw for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City on Sunday.

The match featured six goals and showcased one of the standout performances in the current Premier League season. City’s defensive lapses proved to be costly for the treble winners at the Etihad Stadium.

Following this result, City falls to third place in the league table, now trailing leaders Arsenal by three points, while Tottenham sits in fifth position, securing their first point in three games.

As anticipated, both teams had significant space to exploit in the early minutes of the game. Jeremy Doku nearly capitalized on the space in the fifth minute, forcing Guglielmo Vicario into a smart save near his post. Spurs then took advantage directly from the resulting corner, with Dejan Kulusevski delivering a quick ball to Heung-min Son, who muscled his way into the penalty area and scored despite a not particularly powerful shot that slipped under Ederson.

Son found the scoresheet again, this time unintentionally, as an inviting Julian Alvarez set piece deflected off his leg and past his own goalkeeper, making it 1-1. Moments later, it was almost 2-1 when Bernardo Silva set up Erling Haaland, who surprisingly side-footed the ball wide with an open goal in front of him.

The action continued at a rapid pace, with Doku causing issues for Tottenham’s defense. Doku’s impressive play almost paid off when he dribbled past Ben Davies and struck a powerful shot from the left of the box, hitting the crossbar.

City responded with a fluid move, resulting in Phil Foden making it 2-1 after being set up by Alvarez. City had chances to extend their lead before halftime, hitting the post and sending an effort over the crossbar.

In the second half, City continued their assault, with Alvarez forcing a stunning save from Vicario. Tottenham then found their way back into the game, with Giovani Los Celso curling a shot into the bottom right corner in the 69th minute.

City regained the lead in the 81st minute, with Jack Grealish scoring his first goal since April. However, Spurs leveled the score at 3-3 in the 89th minute through a Dejan Kulusevski header from a Brennan Johnson cross.
