Jurgen Klopp's new Red Bull salary revealed

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly accepted a pay cut to take over as Red Bull’s new head of global soccer.

The former Liverpool boss stepped down from his Anfield post during the summer after admitting he felt he needed a mental break, but called time on his sabbatical when he agreed a new role with Red Bull starting in January 2025.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Klopp’s new role comes with an annual salary of between €10m (£8.4m) and €12m (£10.1m).

While Klopp’s previous salary from his time with Liverpool was never formally confirmed, the vice-president of the German football association (DFB) claimed last season that the boss was taking home an annual wage of €24m (£20.1m) at Liverpool, with guaranteed advertising income to take his earnings up to a whopping €50m (£41.9m).

Despite initial reports, Klopp’s contract does not include a release clause specific to the German national team, although it is understood that there is a verbal agreement with Red Bull allowing him to explore a return to management in future if he wishes to get back in the dugout.

Coaching is not thought to be an option for Klopp as it stands, with the 57-year-old taking this role to provide his fix of working in football without needing the same level of intensity that comes with management.
