Jude Bellingham marked his 14th goal for Real Madrid in Sunday’s 3-0 win against Cadiz, setting a new record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Since his summer move to Madrid, the English midfielder has been in exceptional form, achieving this milestone in just 15 games by scoring the third goal in the straightforward victory over Cadiz.
Bellingham’s remarkable feat surpasses the initial records set by Ronaldo, Alfredo di Stefano, and Pruden Sanchez, who all managed 13 goals in their first 15 competitive matches for Madrid. Now, Bellingham stands alone in the history books.
Interestingly, the midfielder’s current tally of 14 goals for Madrid already eclipses the total number of goals he scored throughout the entire previous season. He had scored 14 goals, concluding with his last strike in May 2023 during his 42nd and final appearance for Borussia Dortmund.
In Ronaldo’s inaugural season with Madrid back in the 2009/10 campaign, he tallied an impressive 33 goals in 35 matches across all competitions, posing a significant benchmark for Bellingham’s debut year at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bellingham’s availability for the Cadiz match was in doubt following a shoulder dislocation suffered before the international break. Despite withdrawing from the England squad due to the injury, the midfielder remarkably returned straight into Madrid’s starting lineup for Sunday’s fixture.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti admitted, “The problem he had, he still has it. With protection, he is fine,” addressing Bellingham’s injury situation post-game.
Looking ahead, Madrid faces Napoli in Champions League action on Wednesday, followed by a La Liga clash against Granada on Saturday.
